A change in your own plans
A guest withdrawing, a delayed flight or a change of travel dates does not automatically cancel the charter on the same terms. Ask what applies if you reduce the party, move the departure or no longer wish to travel. Charges may depend on when notice is received and on services already arranged.
Send the request through the contact channel used for the booking and keep a record of the reply. Until a change is agreed, do not assume that the original booking has been replaced.
Weather and the captain’s decision
A forecast, uncomfortable conditions and an operational cancellation are different situations. The captain may adjust the route, timing or anchorage to suit the vessel and conditions. A different route does not by itself establish a right to a refund.
If the planned charter cannot proceed, the applicable agreement determines the next steps. Ask how you will be informed, who confirms the decision and what arrangements apply. A replacement date, alternative vessel, credit or refund should only be described as available when the relevant terms or a written agreement provide for it.
Clarify the outcome before booking
Read the cancellation clause before paying and ask for a plain-language explanation of any unclear point. Check how it treats charter fees, deposits, optional services and any expenses paid to other providers. Keep the response with the agreement.
- What counts as notice, and when is it considered received?
- Which terms apply to a personal change versus an operator cancellation?
- Who confirms a weather decision and any offered alternative?
- How are agreed refunds or extra charges calculated and processed?
If you need to cancel now
Provide the booking reference, departure date and the change you are requesting. Request written acknowledgement and an explanation of the terms that apply to your booking. There is no universal refund percentage or rescheduling rule across all charters.
Ask about a changed service as well as a cancelled trip
A shorter guest list, a different menu and a replacement yacht are different changes. Identify exactly what you want to alter and ask how the agreement treats it. If you are offered another boat, check the layout, capacity, services and any price difference before accepting it.
Keep arrangements made directly with outside suppliers in view. A photographer or transfer company may have its own conditions and notice period. Confirm who booked each service and who must receive a change request; telling one supplier does not necessarily notify the others.
